From Piazza di Pecetto take the main road towards Staffa up to the large car park: Then take the road on the right to the market square by the sports ground. At the end of the square, cross a wooden bridge and turn right. A scenic mule track through a conifer forest will take you in an hour to the Bill Alps station. Then walk along the ski-track through the fields until you reach a very pretty uphill path that still retains the history of the medieval footpath leading to the Oberto Maroli Shelter. From here, by crossing screes and a rocky hill, you will reach the tall golden statue of the Madonna of the Snows, standing on the border with Switzerland, with a wide and grandiose panorama of the Rosa and of the Saas valley, dominated by the 4000 metres- high Mischabel range. Lower down you can see the Mattmark dam. The pass of the same name is a little further south-east and is reachable by climbing to the left of the skilift.
